Industry application

Geometry for scenic fabrication.

Installed or fabricated forms may differ from design drawings and need to interface with new work.

Where capture fits

Document built surfaces and spatial relationships at the stage that supports the fabrication or media decision.

A fabricated panel or sculpted scenic piece can be captured before installation to document its shape. That record does not describe its final position relative to adjoining scenery. Decide whether the task concerns the component, the installed assembly or the interface between them before defining the capture area.

What the data supports

Measured reference geometry for comparison, coordination and a separately agreed modeling scope.

Ask the fabricator to identify critical interfaces and features that must survive model simplification. Keep measured geometry distinct from design changes and any interpretation used to fill gaps. Confirm how component coordinates connect to the installed environment.

Make the next step explicit

Agree who receives the data, who checks it and what must be complete before creative or technical work depends on it. Capture records conditions at a point in time; changes after that milestone need to be communicated.

THE PROJECTION CONTEXT

Connect the built piece to its digital shape.

Curves, joins and existing conditions influence how fabrication and projection teams coordinate around a scenic surface.

Original planning illustration. Concept geometry, not a measured project or equipment simulation.
